Palatine Illinois – Home to the Best Restorants in the State

Palatine is a suburban village in Cook County, Illinois. It is a northwestern suburb of Chicago with a population of 67,908 at the 2020 census. As of the 2010 Census, it was the seventh largest community in Cook County and the 18th largest in Illinois. In 2010, it was home to more than 30,000 people. It is a highly walkable community and has a vibrant business community.

The village was settled after the Black Hawk War, and the Illinois and Wisconsin Railroad extended its reach westward, reaching Arlington Heights and Dunton Station. Two landowners, Joel Wood and Elisha Pratt, plotted out the downtown area. Unfortunately, Hiram Thurston did not see the potential of the land and refused to purchase it. Nevertheless, the town was incorporated in 1866. Today, it is home to many businesses and organizations, as well as a historical museum and several museums.

A vibrant cultural scene is available in Palatine. Local bands, theater groups, and other organizations perform in the town. A local group, Music on Stage, produces Broadway-style shows. The music venue hosts many events, including a theater for performing the classics. Local restaurants offer live music and children’s activities. After the theatre, the town hosts a street fest, a family-friendly event held the day before Labor Day.

The first floor of the historic district of downtown Palatine is dominated by two buildings, the Starck Hospital and the Kunze Saloon. Both were built in the late nineteenth century. In 1916, the hospital was opened by Dr. Carl Starck. It had ten beds on the second floor. A laboratory, dentist’s office, and operating room were also part of the building. Its nurse’s station was located on the second floor.
